Applying for a renewal of a green card
i am a green card holder, currently working in a nursing home.my green card´s validity will be expired in september 2009.when i should apply for the renewal of card and what is the process.hope you will let me know, thank you.
=====
You should start the renewal about 2 months before the end of your existing green card. You will need to pay a fee and show proof that you are still working at the company (a letter from your existing employer will help). It will cost €1,500 and does not have a time restriction like the previous greencard.

This has changed as of June 2009.

Holders of a current, valid green card that expires in 2009 are not required to apply for renewal. Instead, they should present themselves to their local Garda Registration office (or to GNIB in the Dublin area) with the required items listed on the Entemp site. Once approved, they will be granted a Stamp 4 of up to one year's duration, which is an exemption from having to hold a Green Card. It also enables the holder to apply for Long-Term Residence once the appropriate legislation is in place. It does not grant LTR by itself.
The fee is the normal €150 GNIB/Garda Registration fee for the annual card. Assuming all documents are gathered ahead of time, the process - barring problems - can be completed in one visit. It is not like waiting for the original Green Card application to be processed, and it does not have the associated costs.
